Salt in my veins

There is something about the ocean that makes me feel complete.  I grew up in Rhode Island, where we pride ourselves on having 400 miles of beautiful coastline.  We may be the tiniest state but we have lots of ocean to offer.  Here are some fun facts about RI. The first place I ever went when I was born, was to the beach.  I have salt in my veins and it it never leaving.

Anyway, when I first came to visit UNE I fell in love with the campus because of the ocean being so close.  Every time I walk out my dorm I see the Saco River.  It is a beautiful sight to see every morning. I could never live a day without the ocean being close by.

I can't even imagine living in a state that is completely land-locked. I love the ocean too much.

And being at UNE, I have another four years where I can have the ocean close by.

Home Sweet Home...

I don't know about any of you are or have attended college but I know that I have never appreciated my family like I do now.

My junior and senior year all I wanted to do was get out of my house and away from my parents.  I felt like  I was "to old" to be controlled. I hated the rules that I had and the early curfews.  I just wanted to get to college.

Now that I am in college I love to go home.  I love to see my parents and too go to sleep in my bed, early and just be at my house.  It's funny how things change.

My relationships between me and my parents and me and my sisters have changed so much.  We have so much to talk about and are constantly in communication.  I love how it has changed.

I have always been very close with my family but now I feel like we are even closer even though we are all so far apart. And when we get together for family occasions it is so much more exciting than it was before.  I love and miss my family BUT I love what the distance has done and wouldn't change it.

Teeny Tiny Library...

I have visited many colleges and I have yet to see a library are small as ours.
At first I really didn't like the size.  I wanted the idea of a big library with lots of information floating around.

kind like this one...

I didn't go to the library the first few weeks because I couldn't find a spot that was comfortable, I felt to cramped.

But now I go all the time. I like the little cubicle areas where you are blocked form the whole world.  I have gotten used to the small little building.

I do still get annoyed when there is no comfy seat to sit in, but I have learned to make do.

I'm sure as I get older it will seem smaller and smaller, but for now it is a perfect size and does what it needs to do.

I do still wish we had one of these as our library, but we can all dream...

High Speed Internet? I don't think so...

A growing issue that has been going on, on campus is the internet...  It is very slow.  Especially in the dorms.  Where we use our computers the most and need them to work the most.  If you want to use the internet for anything during the hours 12pm to about 10 pm, you're out of luck...

Then Internet is used SO much by SO many students and is so weak it barely ever works.

During registration was the worst I have ever seen.  At exactly 9pm, when we needed to be registering the entire network crashed. The most important time of the year and it fails on us... what is that saying?? THE INTERNET IS HORRIBLE.

We pay a lot of money to attend UNE and we should at least be offered reasonable decent, fast internet source.

Maybe UNE should LOOK at this website and FIX the problem.

Roomates: Friend(s) or Foe(s)?

Since the beginning of college, roommates have been one of the biggest worries for incoming freshman in college.  Everyone wonders: "What will my roommate be like?" "Will we get along?", or there are the smart people who choose who to live with.

Here are some ROOMMATE HORROR Stories !!

I made the mistake of going random and choosing not to live with someone I knew.

I found out my roommates this summer and immediately searched them on Facebook.  I began to message them and they seemed to be very nice and we got along...
I came to school on the 30th of August and meet them face-to-face...It was fine, we got along...

Two and a half months have gone by and the last place I want to be in is my dorm room.

It's not that they aren't still nice girls, but when I signed up for my housing, I specifically stated I wanted a NON SMOKING roommate... what does housing give me? A SMOKING ROOMMATE.

I personally HATE smoking.  I have grown up in a house where smoking it NOT okay and none of my immediate or distant family members smoke cigarettes.  It is the opinion of the person to smoke, BUT when it is brought into MY home (dorm room) I have a HUGE problem with it.
